Explorer Microlight Flying…
We have secured 4 flying sessions in May for 12 Explorers per session.
Each day 18,19,25 and 26 May 2019. Participants will meet at District HQ, and travel by Minibus to the airfield where we will be met by volunteer pilots. After a safety briefing each member, and Leader if there is time will embark on a 20-30 minute flight over the Kent countryside, during the fight you will be invited to take supervised control of the aircraft.
We will be at the airfield all day on all four occasions, and you should note that there will obviously be a fair amount of waiting time. A light lunch and drinks will be provided during the day, but in order to keep costs down this will be the only meal.
We are very aware that these dates fall inside exam times, and may not be ideal for you all, but in order for you to participate, we will bring an event shelter with us, and place it in a designated ‘quiet area’ and ensure you are not disturbed until your flight time.
After we have all flown we will travel back to HQ for drop off.
This is very much a weather dependent activity and there is always a possibility we may not be able to fly, in the past we have been told at least 24 hours in advance and rescheduled the flight with the organizers.
This event is open to all explorer members, and we intend to mix you up to get to know each other, and no one unit will be attending on its own.
The cost per participant will be £25
Having participated in this event last year, i can highly recommend it
