Iceland 2024

Explorer Expedition to Iceland 2024

Will you be over 14 (and under 18) and an Explorer scout in the summer of 2024 ? If the answer is yes to both questions, then you could be joining us in Iceland for an 8 day adventure of a lifetime. Romford Explorer Scouts will once again be traveling overseas with our young people. This follows previous International trips to Switzerland and the South of France in 2014, 2016, 2018 & 2022.

The Event will take place in the summer of 2024, leaving the UK on our planned departure date of Friday 26th July and returning on Saturday 3rd August, during the school summer holidays. We will be based at Úlfljótsvatn Scout and Adventure Centre, which is Located in the South-West of Iceland, about 1 hours drive from the Capital. Reykjavik.

Úlfljótsvatn was opened in 1941 and has been home to the Icelandic Scout Association for over 80 years. The site sits in a privileged environment area full of outdoor opportunities, natural beauty and unlimited wonder. Like our trips to Kandersteg in Switzerland, Úlfljótsvatn will welcome Scouts and Guides from around the world. It is always popular with Americans, Europeans and Scandinavians, including Icelandic Scouts.

We will spend 7 or 8 nights, in Úlfljótsvatn, where you will be able to experience walking and hiking in the geothermal Icelandic countryside, with visits to Volcanic waterfalls, Geysers and Hot springs as well as River Rafting and an afternoon in Reykjavik and of course the chance to swim in a thermally heated pool. Other trips will be added to the programme as we move forward.

But don’t just take our word for it. Follow the link below to watch our quick video. Once you have watched the video, you will find a sign-up Google form below, please complete that with your details and submit.

The total cost of the Expedition is £1195, a deposit of £75 (non-returnable) is required to secure your space and the balance of £1120.00 should be paid by 16 x monthly instalments by standing order of £70 a month, starting in March 2023.

Please don’t let the cost put you off. We hope by spreading the cost over many months will make it easier for you to sign up. If you would like your son / daughter to attend and want to discuss aspects of finance, please do drop us a line on our dedicated email address:
