About us

Romford District covers the north half of the London Borough of Havering including Romford, Collier Row, Rise Park, Harold Hill, Harold Wood and Gidea Park. There are 16 Scout Groups in Romford District with most Groups having Beaver, Cub and Scout sections.

We also have 5 Explorer Scout Units and an active Network Section. In all, Romford District is home to over 1000 young people and over 300 adults. We have a very busy calendar throughout the year, full of events and activities.

Romford District is very much focused on youth shaped Scouting so the programme can vary throughout the seasons and from year to year. As focus groups, forums and youth committees meet, new activities are suggested and facilitated wherever and whenever possible.

Each year, every member of the District comes together to celebrate St George, the patron saint of Scouting. Each section from each group in the District gets together to take part in a parade led by a marching band. Parents and members of public cheer them along the route which leads them into church for a short service. This, for many members of the District, is the highlight of the calendar as many members of all ages take the opportunity to parade through public streets displaying the pride they feel to be a member of The Scout Association.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
