District Commissioner: Andrew Mann
Andy was appointed as District Commissioner for Romford in August 2014, having been involved in Scouting since the age of 8. Before becoming the DC, Andy was the District Explorer Scout Commissioner. He was also the GSL of 19th Romford Scout Group and held roles for over 25 years in the Scout section in two Romford Groups. Awarded the Silver Acorn by the Chief Scout in 2015, Andy is at the forefront of providing quality Scouting for the young people of Romford.
Deputy District Commissioner: Steve Wiltshire
Steve has been the Deputy District Commissioner since 2014. He also came through the movement, starting as a Cub. He has been both Group Chairman and a Scout Leader at 2nd Collier Row for 15 years. Steve has also been instrumental in forming our DofE set up for the Explorer section, now the biggest in East London. Steve works closely with the DC in delivering Scouting to Romford.
Assistant District Commissioner Beavers: Maria Green
Maria Green took on the ADC Beaver role in 2014. A Beaver Leader at 4th Collier Row, Maria has been a Leader for about 12 years, first becoming involved when her children started Scouts. Maria is responsible for the Beaver section (aged 6 to 8 years old) of which we have approx 300 in Romford.
Assistant District Commissioner Cubs: Tony Peters
Tony Peters is the ADC Cubs, a role he took on in 2017. He is responsible for the biggest section in Romford with over 375 Cubs (aged 8 to 10 ½) across the 18 Cub Packs. Tony has been a Leader for over 9 years in the Cub section at 4th Collier Row. He is also an active member of the Bushscout Activity Team and can be found providing Bushcraft skills to youth members at national Scouting events.
Assistant District Commissioner Scouts: Mick Clark
Mick Clark became the ADC Scouts in 2014 and oversees the 16 Scout Troops across the District with approx 300 Scouts (aged 10 ½ to 14). Over the last few years, the amount of Scouts reaching 14 and moving into Explorer has increased two fold. Mick has been a Leader for over 10 years and until recently an ASL with 3rd Harold Hill.
District Explorer Scout Commissioner: Dick Catchpole
Dick Catchpole took on the role of District Explorer Scout Commissioner (DESC) in September 2018. He is responsible for the provision of Explorer Scouting for the District, across 5 Explorer Scout Units and one Young Leader training unit and approx 120, 14 to 18 year old Explorer Scouts. Dick has been a leader for almost 15 years in Romford and Barking & Dagenham and now back in Romford. He is also a DofE leader / assessor and will be supporting the ADC Youth Commissioner in getting our senior section members through their Chief Scout, Queen Scout and DofE awards.
