Kandersteg 2026

Explorer Expedition to Kandersteg, Switzerland
Tuesday 28th July to Saturday 8th August 2026

Will you be over 14 (and under 18) and an Explorer Scout in the summer of 2026? If the answer is yes to both then you could be joining us in Kandersteg, in Southern Switzerland for a 10 day adventure of a lifetime. Romford Explorer Scouts will be retuning to the Mountains with our young people once again, having completed three successful expeditions in 2014, 2018 & 2022.

We will be based at Kandersteg International Scout camp site, described by Baden Powell as a permanent mini world jamboree. And it certainly is, during the summer, some 2000 Scouts & Guides from around the world converge on the small Swiss village for what can only be described as an adventure of a lifetime.

We will spend 9 nights, 10 days in Kandersteg at the end of July / beginning of August 2026, where you will be able to experience walking and hiking in the Swiss Alps, river rafting, swimming in an alpine lake, canyoning, high ropes and zip wires and meeting 2000 Scouts & Guides from around the world. But don’t just take our word for it. Watch the video of our last trip to Switzerland below to get a  feel for what you could be doing next summer.

Once you have watched the video, you will find a link to sign up below, please complete that with your details and submit. You will need to pay a £100 deposit as soon as you can to secure a place (payment details are on the Google Form).

The total cost of the Expedition is £1180, a non-refundable deposit of £100 is required to secure your space and the balance of £1080 should be paid by 18 monthly instalments by standing order of £60 a month. Please don’t let the cost put you off, if you would like your son / daughter to attend and want to discuss aspects of finance, please drop us a line on

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
